This week marks the start of the return to the office for US Apple employees. Two years after the start of the pandemic and after multiple deadlines all postponed one after the other as the health crisis evolved and the appearance of the more contagious Omicron variant appeared. Initially, it was at the beginning of the summer of 2021 that the situation was expected to normalize. More recently, Apple had set a goal for last February.
This re-entry is done at first on a progressive rhythm. Since yesterday, employees are required to come at least one day a week to their premises. In three weeks it will be two days then, after May 23, the new hybrid organization proposed by Tim Cook in June 2021 will prevail. Namely a compulsory presence on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays – in order to simplify meetings – and the two remaining days in teleworking for whoever wishes (and depending on the positions or teams).
This mixed scheme, unprecedented for Apple, had not been to the liking of all employees, those who had found a new balance in telework. They judged that Apple had finally done well in view of the product launches made and the record financial results that have resulted from them over the past two years.
