For Microsoft fans, Bing extensions on Mac

Let’s say that, for some reason, you like Bing, the Microsoft search engine. Well you’ll be happy to know that there are small official apps to make it more accessible on Mac. The first is Bing Wallpaper, an application that replaces the wallpaper with that of the day on Bing and gives access to some additional features.

From the macOS menu bar, you can select a wallpaper from a previous day as well as check the weather and the news (you have to change the country yourself for France in the options). A field is also present to start a search quickly on Bing.

If you’re a fan of Bing, but not enough to put it on your menu bar, there’s the Microsoft Bing for Safari extension. Safari already allows Bing to be selected as the default search engine, but the extension goes one step further.

It adds a menu in the toolbar of the browser that presents a piece of the wallpaper of the day as well as some news selected by the service. It also gives a bit faster access to search engine parameters. Microsoft is not taking advantage of the ability to override Safari’s home page, although that would be relevant for this extension.
