Wi-Fi 6E is coming to the Freebox Delta! The operator formalized the good news in a press release, and the box therefore goes directly from Wi-Fi 5 to Wi-Fi 6E. This is the latest generation of the standard using the 6 GHz band, which offers better performance (higher speeds, less latency, etc.).

The 6 GHz band is added to those of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. This novelty will make it possible to maintain good speeds, even if several devices are connected to the box. The operator promises for example a speed of 2.5 Gbit / s on two machines connected simultaneously. That’s three times faster than the Freebox Delta Wi-Fi 5.
According to Free, this also guarantees a better connection in high-density areas since the 6 GHz band is less busy. Wi-Fi 6E requires changing hardware, and the box integrating Wi-Fi 6E is available today for new subscribers. The device will also be sent to ADSL customers, who will be able to take advantage of the novelty once their homes are connected to fiber.
Former subscribers will be able to request a new Server Freebox Delta during the summer for €49. The subscription price remains at the price of €39.99 per month for one year, before increasing to €49.99. The operator is not the first to offer Wi-Fi 6E: this is already the case with Orange and Bouygues.
