Satechi launches a 24″ iMac docking station with an SSD slot

Satechi today presented a new docking station designed for 24″ iMacs. This will come to rest above the foot of the iMac to add several ports. The accessory does not contrast with the design of the computer since it uses the same colors.

This “Slim dock” for iMac will allow you to gain access to a USB-C 10 Gb/s port, a USB-A 10 Gb/s port, 2 USB-A 2.0 ports as well as an SD card slot and a another for micro SD. Everything plugs into one of the iMac’s USB-C ports, and Satechi specifies that this docking station cannot be used to recharge devices or to use burners.

But the icing on the cake is a slot reserved for SSDs to add storage to the computer, which is not usually possible. You can add an NVMe M.2 or SATA M.2 SSD to it via a small hatch that opens without tools.

In terms of dimensions, the device is exactly the size of a Magic Keyboard. The product is sold for $150, to which must be added shipping costs of $29.53 to receive it in France. If you’re tempted, Satechi is offering a 20% discount for the launch using the code IMAC20, which reimburses shipping costs. Only gray and blue colors are currently available on the manufacturer’s website.
