Tennis: Djokovic files legal action against his deportation from Australia

Australia on Thursday canceled the visa of Novak Djokovic who had arrived at Melbourne airport for the Australian Open without the necessary documents to enter the country. The world No. 1 in tennis, whose vaccination status is unknown and who had obtained a medical exemption, filed an appeal against his expulsion.

World tennis number one Novak Djokovic has filed a lawsuit against Australian authorities’ decision to cancel his visa and expel him from the country, court officials said on Thursday. Melbourne judge Anthony Kelly will examine at 4:00 p.m. (05:00 GMT) the Serbian’s request, detained by immigration services in Melbourne since arriving in the country on Wednesday evening with the intention of competing in the Australian Open .
