Bad news for fans of TweetDeck on Mac: this official client for Twitter will soon be gone. As of July 1, 2022, it will no longer be possible to use the app and you will have to go through the service’s website to take advantage of this Twitter intended more for professionals, with its multiple columns and some advanced functions.
The announcement is quite abrupt and the month’s notice quite short, even if TweetDeck’s macOS client has never been a model for a native app for the Mac, or for any platform for that matter. Twitter now prefers to focus its efforts on the web version which should also benefit from a major update in the coming months.
If you prefer to have an app in the Dock, you can refer to Tweeten, a free Twitter client which is explicitly inspired by TweetDeck and which is offered for macOS, but also for Windows and even Linux. It even offers better integration for Macs, including the management of the Touch Bar on laptops that are equipped with it.
