Apple Store: $ 1.5 million stolen in gift cards in the United States
Their method was proven, Jason Almighty had stolen several “Isaac” terminals (an iPhone with a card reader) in an Apple Store in Texas. He then posted himself outside to continue using his Wi-Fi and then generated multiple Apple Store gift cards with store credits.
These cards were then transferred to Wallet and screenshots of their numbers sent to his accomplice in New York. Syed Ali, as well as another person remained unknown, used these cards to buy equipment in Apple Stores in the city.
The pair were eventually arrested after Almighty Jason was caught on surveillance camera stealing a terminal and later located through his phone. Almighty was not on his first package, he was arrested in 2016 for possession of 60 fake credit cards.
