In 2019, Warner confirmed to be working on several DC Comics-based projects. Warner Bros. Montreal, the studio acclaimed for its work on Batman: Arkham Origins, among other things, finally lifted the veil on its current project, namely a game called Gotham Knights. Exit Batman, make way for a strong quartet. And a few months before its release, the studio is making a drastic decision.

Earlier this week, Warner Bros. Montreal gave an appointment to Batman fans and the curious via a teaser, that of an announcement scheduled for this Tuesday, May 10, 2022. And just a few hours ago, the curtain rose, revealing a gameplay demonstration of about ten minutes. The opportunity for those interested to discover a little more about this expected game.

Only, at the end of this demo, the players realized that Gotham Knights would only be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and X, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. A drastic decision that would allow the studio to “provide players with the best gaming experience possible“. Warner Bros. Interactive therefore preferred to sweeten the old-gen versions in favor of a sublimated next-gen experience.
The publisher did not dwell on the subject but it is a safe bet that this decision is necessary so that the game does not suffer the same criticisms as the old-gen versions of Cyberpunk 2077. Already postponed, Gotham Knights is now due out on October 25th. Warner Bros. teams. Montreal will therefore be able to focus on the next-gen versions of the game, without having to worry about offering a correct, although inferior, version on PlayStation and Xbox One X.
